At Darling International, we do more than just make sure kitchen waste is removed in an environmentally friendly way. We reduce the amount of waste from the meat-processing industry that could otherwise end up in overcrowded landfills by converting it into usable products. For 125 years, we have rendered this waste into Darling’s primary finished products: proteins, fats and oils, and hides.

Our finished products are sold both domestically and internationally, and Darling’s research team works in collaboration with government, industry and university groups to develop innovative product applications.

Animal Protein Meals – Primarily used as nutritional additives in the feed industry, protein meals are a cost effective way to make sure that animals get the nutrients they need.

Renewable Energy – Darling is moving into the green diesel market through a joint venture with Valero Energy to build a refinery capable of producing an estimated 9,300 barrels per day. Griffin Industries pioneered the development of renewable fuels derived from animal fats and recycled restaurant grease, operating the longest continuously producing biodiesel plant from related feedstocks in the country.
