Gut comfort
Lessen the increase of inflammatory substances in the blood after sports, hence aiding in gut comfort1
Research demonstrates that supplementing with 10 grams of Peptan collagen peptides before intense exercise helps maintain intestinal barrier function and athletic performance.
In a randomized, placebo-controlled study with 20 recreational athletes, participants taking Peptan showed stable blood endotoxin levels before and after a 70-minute run, unlike the control group who experienced significant increases.
This indicates Peptan helps preserve intestinal barrier function, preventing the exercise-induced "leaky gut" that often leads to inflammation and digestive discomfort. Importantly, while some sports supplements can worsen gastrointestinal symptoms during intense activity, Peptan showed comparable comfort levels to flavored water, suggesting its potential as a gut-friendly performance supplement.
Gastrointestinal discomfort with symptoms including bloating and constipation is very person-dependent and can affect quality of life. According to Abrahams et al., tracking digestive symptoms and food intake through an app proved to be a convenient and efficient way of studying the ability of dietary collagen (2x 10 grams/day) to manage these symptoms in a real-life setting. After 2 weeks of baseline tracking and 8 weeks of daily supplementation, 93% of the healthy female volunteers (37-58 years old) who completed the study, experienced less bloating and improved bowel movements without interfering in their normal diet and exercise routines.3
